If you're like me, you spent all your money on a Wii, and now you don't have any money for games. Luckily for us, Nintendo was kind enough to allow us to buy the old crappy games from days of yore for as little as $5 a piece and play those on the Wii.
This has the twofold effect of both giving you something to play while waiting for your bank account to once again reach the double digit range, while at the same time destroying your nostalgia-fueled fond memories of such classics as Excite Bike and Kid Icarus.
Yes, I have learned that it is sometimes best to leave the past back in the past, where it can continue to collect dust and do no harm. I loved Excite Bike back in the day, but somehow its fancy left and right turning feature fails to stack up to the likes of Grand Turismo 5. Heck, it even looks bad compared to Bejeweled on my cell phone!
And so in 2008, here I sit, in my living room with my snazzy 32" SD CRT with my gleaming white Wii, enjoying my library of games that include and is limited to: Legend of Zelda, Super Mario Brothers, and Excite Bike. It feels so much like 1985 as I madly avoid koopas and chase mushrooms, that I feel the urge every now and then to blow in the CD hole in my Wii like I used to do to my NES.
God I miss cartridges...
